YNU values international students and the diversity they bring to our campus. We have years of experience in hosting enthusiastic international students and researchers.
YNU conducts cutting-edge research and practical education in 5 colleges and 6 graduate schools. It offers 1 undergraduate and 5 graduate programs taught in English, in addition to the Graduate School of Engineering Science, where all the courses are taught in English.
The campus of YNU is located in Yokohama, which is the second largest city in Japan and only a 30-minute train ride from Tokyo. Its green campus is just 3km away from Yokohama Station, having an excellent environment for studying and relaxed campus life.
YNU is home to about 800 international students, and 7 students from Thailand are currently enrolled. To support international students, YNU provides 4 dormitories with more than 600 rooms, and offers 6 levels of Japanese language classes for free of charge. Also, at YNU, senior Japanese or international students serve as "tutors" for newly admitted international students to provide them with necessary support for daily life and studying Japanese and other specialized subjects. In this manner, students not yet fluent in Japanese or those living abroad for the first time can start a new campus life without any worries.
Annual tuition fee is 535,800 JPY, which is markedly more economical than Western universities. In addition, YNU offers tuition exemption to many international students and provides information on the wide range of scholarships.
After graduation, a distinctively large number of international students find employment in Japan or advance to Japanese graduate schools, which demonstrates the high reputation of YNU among Japanese companies and reflects the high quality of education it offers.
